Just found these on CarMagazine.co.uk, some spy shots of an Aston Martin super-saloon, an extra long Rapide if you want. According to the source article it is a prototype for a new limited run bespoke model, created by the Q department.
Every year in June, the dutch Aston Martin club Power Beauty Soulmates goes on a week-long trip to a beautiful location in Europe. Preferably a place with lots of beautiful roads for us to drive. Previous trips took us to Le Mans, Isle of Man, the italian Dolomites and last year to Scotland. This year, we will go to Biarritz, France, a perfect starting location for nice routes in the French and Spanish Pyrenees. So last week, my friend Eduard and I spent 4 days in Biarritz, to plan the routes and to scout lunch and diner locations. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it 🙂
Quick reminder for all Aston owners in Europe: On May 15, this year’s official Aston Martin BIG 5 events will kick-off with the track day at the Nürburgring GP Strecke. Interested? Then book your place here. The GP Strecke is a very nice track (check the pic for me and my red V12 Vantage at last year’s event), so I highly recommend joining.
Just visited the “Great British” event at Circuit Park Zandvoort, together with some fellow PBSM club members. Lots of British cars, old and new. Not a lot of Astons though, apart from our own. But luckily, we brought some beautiful and special specimens, including a Vanquish Volante in Ocellus Teal, a Vanquish coupe and both dutch V12 Roadsters!
Remember the Vanquish Centenary Edition? One of these beautiful special editions was spotted by Diederik Lieftink in Amsterdam, at the Conservatorium Hotel.
I am currently in Las Vegas for business, so yesterday I figured: While I am here, why not visit the local Aston Martin dealer, Towbin Motorcars. Towbin is a combined Aston Martin, Bentley and Rolls Royce dealership, with an impressive stock of new and used cars. The guys and gals at Towbin were friendly and I enjoyed talking with them about Aston Martin and of course, taking lots of pictures of the nice Astons they had in stock, including a very special Vanquish Volante. Lots of car events last weekend. First the Shmeeting in Amsterdam, then later that Friday the introduction of the new Porsche Macan at the Porsche dealership (won’t bother you with that one 🙂 ) and then on Saturday the 2014 edition of the Spring Event.
I am sure you are familiar with the well-known Shmee150 YouTube channel / Facebook page and website. Last week, Tim Burton, aka Shmee150 himself, started on a 25-day “Where’s Shmee 2014” tour, taking him through 10 countries and to lots of super car related events and companies. On Friday, Tim did his first “Shmeeting” with his fans, right here in Amsterdam. And we were invited to join the Shmeeting with “something special”. Well, what’s more special than my V12 Roadster in its’ Union Jack livery?
An amazing barn find, reported by Road & Track this week: Two DBS Coupes, one a 1969 DBS and the other a 1970 DBS V8 Series I.
Sadly I wasn’t able to visit the Techno Classica show in Essen last week, but judging from the pictures, it looks like it was a huge show with lots of nice cars, including many Aston Martins. Luckily, I received these photos from Mitchell van Alphen, showing the modern Astons at the show.
