Two of my favorite hobbies (astons and video games) combined! An Aston Martin V12 Vantage appeared at the Gamescon video games fair in Cologne. It was present at the booth of Electronic Arts, to promote their upcoming new NFS Most Wanted game (the 3.275th edition in the Need for Speed series).
It’s a Sunday, no Aston Martin news today. So here’s some pictures I took yesterday of my own V12 Vantage (in Fire Red) posing with his little open top brother, my V8 Vantage S Roadster (in Stratus White).

Two silver Astons in a parking garage in Mallorca, one a coupe, one a Volante. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But look again. This is a pair of next year’s DB9 model!

The DB7 was originally launched in 1994 with a 3.2 liter straight-6 engine, producing 335hp. Then in 1999, for the DB7 V12 Vantage, the engine was replaced with a 5.9 liter V12, delivering 420hp. So what do we have here? A DB7 with a V8 engine? The guys at Newport Pagnell created this one-off for the Saudi Arabian Royal family, squeezing a 6.3 liter V8 into the engine compartment (they had to add a bulge to the hood to manage it). Interestingly, this V8 powered DB7 is more powerful than the official V12 edition, at it brings 452 horses!
One hundred thousand readers of the German car magazine Auto Bild voted for this year’s Design Award, choosing from a selection of 136 cars. And even the German car fans agree, the new Aston Martin Vanquish is the most beautiful car in the world! A total of 21.8 percent of the voters have chosen for this new Aston, which hasn’t even been delivered to customers yet.
This video is suddenly doing the rounds on the interwebs, even though it was apparently uploaded to YouTube in May. It was new to me too and must say it is .. ehm… interesting. But before I go on, let’s watch the video:

Dutch car-spotter “bazzl” just spotted two new Vanquish cars in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, parked next to an office building. He reports that the cars were clearly test cars because of the interior and the equipment on the roof.
