PBSM Club Sunday Drive – June 2013
Two months ago had gone by since the last Sunday Drive of the Dutch “Power Beauty Soulmates”, so it was time for another meeting. This time, 12 PBSM members and their Astons met for lunch at the Kieviet Hotel in Wassenaar. After lunch, they left for a nice route along the Dutch coast, via Katwijk, Noordwijk, Zandvoort, to end up for drinks at the Duin en Kruidberg hotel in Santpoort.

Brutal! The new V12 Vantage S!
Phew, the word is out: this is the new V12 Vantage S! The V12 S in short: 573 hp, 620 Nm of torque and a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). I already had the privilege of seeing this car ten days ago, in a Private Viewing at Aston Martin’s Nürburgring Test Center. But no camera’s were permitted, neither was I allowed to disclose any details before today. But today has finally arrived, so here it is!
Another teaser of the new V12 Vantage
Teaser video: V12 Vantage replacement?
On Friday last week, Aston Martin released this teaser video, just saying “Coming Soon…”. The video doesn’t show much, but we can clearly see a bonnet with V12 Vantage style carbon fibre vents, Vantage-style headlights, Vantage-style carbon fibre side strakes and the contours of a car in side-view which confirms this is something Vantage-based. Could this be the reason the V12 Vantage was discontinued a few weeks ago? We’ll know soon enough, maybe even later this week! Stay tuned. Watch the teaser video here. What do you think this is?
Centenary Parade – the head of the pack
Driving in the Aston Martin Centenary Parade at the Nordschleife was a unique and exciting experience. Hopefully you were able to catch some of that excitement from the parade photos and the parade video, both shot by my wife, riding with me in the V12 Vantage Roadster. However, driving in the parade myself did mean I wasn’t able to take pictures of most of the other cars in the parade. And boy oh boy, there were some interesting cars (and drivers!) participating, especially at the head of the pack. Luckily, I have just received a large batch of photos taken by other photographers from the side of the track, most in the famous Nordschleife Carousel corner. Here’s a selection of those photos. If you want see all photos, check this album on my Aston Martin News page on Facebook.
Video: The Centenary Parade Lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife
Here’s a video of the Centenary Parade Lap on the Nordschleife last Sunday, prior to the 24 hours race, with 107 Aston Martins! (This video was shot from my blue V12 Roadster, with my red V12 Vantage right behind us)
The Parade – 107 Aston Martins on the Nürburgring Nordschleife
Earlier today, as a part of Aston’s centenary celebrations, 107 Aston Martins (including my Red and Blue) did a Parade Lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The convoy of 107 Aston Martins was lead by the new Aston Martin CC100 driven by Dr Ulrich Bez, the iconic DBR1 driven by Sir Stirling Moss and, as a special guest, mr. Bond himself, Daniel Craig driving a DB5!
Aston Martin CC100 Speedster Concept
It’s here and it’s stunning: the Aston Martin CC100 Speedster Concept! I was very much looking forward to see this car. A V12 Vantage based open car, with its’ styling based on the classic DBR1. I was wondering how that would turn out. Well, it’s even better than I hoped it would be. Just look at it: This car joined us in The Parade with 107 Aston Martins around the Nordschleife. When we returned at the dedicated Aston Martin parking, I was able to make these photos:
