This weekend: Aston Martin at the Nürburgring 24 hours race

Only a few days to go… This weekend, from Sunday 17:00 to Monday 17:00, the 24 hours race of the Nürburgring will be held, on the infamous Nordschleife track.

Bilstein Vantage on the Nordschleife

Aston Martin Racing will compete in the 24 hours race with 3 cars:

  • The Bilstein-liveried V12 Vantage GT3 (shown above).
  • Another V12 Vantage in close-to-production specification.
  • The first hydrogen-powered race-car, a Rapide S.

Next to that, 4 other Aston Martins, non-factory teams, will enter the race.

The famous 24-hours race is enough reason by itself to drive down to the Nürburgring again (last time I was there is less than 2 weeks age), but there’s two other reasons I just have to be there:

1. The presentation of the CC100

The CC100 is a new V12 Vantage based car, of which only two will be produced. The original press release about the CC100 tells us it will be a two-seater, open top car (no top at all), without doors and with a styling that is influenced by the classic DBR1 racer.

I know, that’s not a lot of information. Hopefully, I will be able to tell you more this weekend.
In any case, I can’t wait to see it!

2. The Parade Lap

The Aston Martin Parade Lap is part of this years centenary celebrations. Prior to the race, at 13:00, a large group of Aston Martin owners will do a 50 km/h Parade Lap around the Nordschleife, led by sir Stirling Moss in a DBR1 and Ulrich Bez in one of the CC100’s.

Of course I will be joining the Parade Lap too, with both my red V12 Vantage and my blue V12 Vantage Roadster. Very much looking forward to this lap around the Green Hell.
