This weekend’s Sunday Drive of the Dutch PBSM Club was a special one, as two members had organized the “Aston Martin Elfstedentocht”.
For the non-dutchies among us: the Elfstedentocht is a 200 kilometer long ice skating tour leading past 11 cities in the northern part of the Netherlands.
The Aston Martin edition of this “eleven cities tour” had to use the roads instead of the canals and rivers, so it was slightly longer, 230 kilometers, and including the trip to and from the hotel came to just over 320 KMs, for most part over winding B-roads.
Starting location: Landgoed Lauswolt
Our trip started and ended at the Lauswolt Hotel, a very nice estate and golf club in Beetsterzwaag. The organizers had arranged nice parking spots for us on the grass right in front of the hotel. In the misty morning light, I was able to capture these images of all the Astons (26 of them!).
Lunch Location : Allingawier
It’s a long trip, so no time to sit down for lunch in a restaurant. Instead, we enjoyed excellent sandwiches and soup at the road side, swarming the parking area with Aston Martins in various models and colors.
POI Stop : the Elfsteden bridge at Bartlehiem
Quick stop to see (and take pictures of) the famous bridge at Bartlehiem.
Drinks and snacks at the Elfsteden Monument Bridge
The last stop, for drinks and snacks, was at the Elfsteden Monument, a bridge tiled with pictures of participants of the ice skating event. More Aston Martin parking chaos:
