This Wednesday is the start of Aston Martin’s Centenary Rally to London, in which my wife Sytske and I are of course going to participate. However, the rally starts in Como in Italy and we are located in Amsterdam… so we have to make our way down to Como first ๐
Today we completed the first stretch of our pre-rally trip (hence “Day Minus One”), from Amsterdam to Basel. 750 kilometers in the pocket and not an inch closer to London yet ๐
Packing the Roadster
The V12 Vantage Roadster is a fabulous car, but it’s not the most practical car if you’re going on a trip longer than a weekend. So packing our bags and fitting them in the boot was quite a challenge. In fact, we’ve have had to ship my tuxedo and Sytske’s evening dress to London by UPS… these just didn’t fit…
Can’t complain though, it’s a small price to pay for driving with the top-down all the way from Amsterdam to London via Como.
Two fuel stops
You may have already noticed in past posts: I have a thing for fuel stop photos… Don’t know why, I have just gotten into the habit of always taking a picture while filling up…
Here’s the first two fuel stops of the Rally to London trip.. many more to follow ๐
Arrived in Basel
After 750 kilometers since Amsterdam, we called it a day, just south of Basel. Which means that tomorrow we’ve only got a short trip, just over 3 hours from Basel to our pre-rally hotel in Saronno, Italy (just south of Como).
Looking forward to meet up with Aston Martin Europe crew and the other participants!
