It’s almost time for the 5th edition of Aston Martin ON ICE!
This yearly event takes place in St. Moritz Switzerland and let’s Aston Martin owners enjoy a day of ice driving and drifting with the full range of Aston models. The driving takes place on a large open area that is prepared like a ski-piste. No trees, no walls, just lots of snow (and in some places: ice). The cars are equipped with winter tires (no spikes), to provide some grip but certainly not too much 🙂
Last year was my first time at ON ICE and I had a spectacular day. It was a lot of fun to learn how to control these wonderful rear-wheel drive cars in icy conditions. But the real fun began when the entire area was turned into a large track, set out with orange cones, for a session of free drifting. Meaning: going side-ways around the entire track.
2013: ON ICE and ON ICE FROST
This year, the ON ICE driving days are held from February 4 to February 15. The arrangement include two days. Arrival, drinks and dinner on the first day, one night stay at the Kempinski hotel, then the ice driving on the second day.
Saturday February 9 is a special day though, called ON ICE FROST. The programme on this FROST day has been tweaked especially for drivers who have done ONE ICE before and includes more driving time, advanced challenges and a night drive.
Of course, you all want the full details on this special ON ICE FROST day. So exactly two weeks from now, I will be in St. Moritz, taking different Astons round the track, hopefully in full opposite lock. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it… 🙂
